Testimonials

Ethan has been my guide and companion in exploring the Great African Bush.  For over 100 days, spanning over 5 years and 5 countries, the two of us have adventured and camped through remote lands, filmed and photographed spectacular wildlife, clambered up volcanoes and mountain peaks, and interacted with unique cultures that I would have never dreamed of encountering.  Ethan is the most rugged and perceptive individual I know and you can feel confident and safe in any situation.  He guides with an inner energy and curiosity, speaks Swahili natively, and can identify any bird or beast a mile away with his steadfast gaze.  He is also an ardent naturalist, strong but humble leader, thoughtful companion, and true friend.

Ethan, you have been an awesome teacher and coach.  I have learned so very much from you about the African wilderness, cultures, and people.   Thanks man…looking forward to our next trip.

Ethan advised against overly touristy activities and we spent 3 days with the last hunter-gatherer tribe, the Hadzas, instead. Priceless. He is also so much fun to travel with, always ready for a quick game of soccer or rugby after a long day of intense wildlife experiences.

I completely underestimated how much we would learn, how much fun we had, and how magical Africa is. My expectations were very high indeed, and this was a transformative, happy, enlightened moment for me.

A trip to Africa is not an inexpensive trip to do, and I would say if you want to have the best experience possible, going with Ethan is worth the modest extra cost.

Ethan is a very personable guide and comfortable to be around. His goal was always to make our wildlife viewing as good as possible. What impressed me the most, though, was his knowledge, not only of the African wildlife, but of all the bird life, flora and fauna in the region.

Ethan epitomizes what an African wildlife guide should be. His love for the bush and all that it offers is apparent. Anyone who is fortunate enough to experience the African bush and all that it offers, with Ethan as their guide, will not only have a unique, life changing experience, but will come away with an appreciation and love for all that is Africa!"

"My wife, my wife’s sister and two friends booked a trip with Ethan Kinsey Safaris in August of 2018. For some of us, this was our third African adventure. Without question our safari with Ethan was the best of the three and the most informative and rewarding trip. His knowledge about animal behavior was key to us seeing situations that are normally only seen on nature programs. Plus, he has a great sense of humor.

I guess a good place to start is to say I spend far more money on traveling than I do on “things”;  the money I spent traveling, with Ethan Kinsey as our guide, to numerous camps in both Tanzania and Rwanda was very possibly the best monies I have ever spent.  The experience was incredible to say the least!  Most importantly let it be known that Ethan’s knowledge, tracking abilities, empathies and ability to design a trip according to his customers needs/personalities is “over the top”.  This was my 3rd trip to Africa, the 1st with Ethan, and I doubt I would ever return to Africa again unless Ethan was our guide.  Thank you for a "DREAM COME TRUE” trip!

He is a consummate guide and meticulous trip planner, sensitive to every interest and need of a diverse group (we had our two college-age kids with us). He is also a lot of fun to be around, no small factor when you spend 24/7 with someone for two weeks as we did! It was the trip of a lifetime, and we couldn’t recommend him more highly."

We love to travel the world (and have taken wonderful photos of our experiences from all 7 continents) and have been to Africa 4 times. The last two trips we have traveled with Ethan. Let’s just say that now we will never travel in Africa without our friend and guide, Ethan Kinsey.

On our second trip to Tanzania, we opted to spend most of our trip using a Wilderness camp that moved with us as we relocated around the different parks. We found this to be a great way to experience the country with the incredible support and hospitality from our private camp team as well as close proximity to the wildlife 24 hours a day. Each night when we returned to camp, we had a campfire and a glass of wine waiting, followed by a gourmet dinner. Each day, the wildlife and photography experiences were amazing – Ethan is a master at putting his guests into the best positions for photos and observation.

It’s difficult to imagine a Tanzanian safari that could have been more thoughtfully and meticulously planned and guided with so many "surprise and delight" moments popping up every day. Ethan takes African safaris to a different level.  First, he takes personal interest in understanding the type of experience you want in Africa. Then, with his extensive contacts and knowledge, he puts together an itinerary that gives you a truly unique experience.  This can range from spending a couple of nights in a “nest” in a tree above a lake filled with wildlife to luxuriating in a tented camp while your Masai hosts prepare an unforgettable meal over an open fire. Ethan knows Tanzania and he knows how to get around. You can put your trust in Ethan Kinsey to put together an African safari that will truly be a highlight of your life.

Seeing the great herds of wildebeest calving in the African Serengeti has been one of our dreams.  As we worked on this trip of a lifetime, it proved to be a bigger challenge than expected. By chance, we learned of Ethan Kinsey via old college friends and decided to start our serious planning with him. Working with Ethan started off great because he asked us what we wanted to see, how we wanted to travel and our expectations for housing, food, etc.  He was planning the safari around our desires, not just “here’s what I do, take it or leave it”.

I can tell you we had an awesome experience that went beyond our expectations. However, I think a better endorsement of our experience with Ethan Kinsey is that we went back to the Serengeti two years later with Ethan and are now planning a trip with Ethan with four of our children.

“When it comes to safari guides, Ethan Kinsey is the best there is. Where other safari companies make you feel like you're on a luxurious tour, Ethan makes it a total adventure, while not sacrificing an ounce of luxury. He will often go the opposite direction of the other cars, and find more wildlife. You feel like you're the only person for miles witnessing a herd of elephants, a lioness and her cubs, or a leopard laying in a tree. On my last trip to the Serengeti, I woke up from my tented camp and we were surrounded by 100,000 zebra.

When traveling to the Democratic Republic of Congo with Ethan to see the mountain gorillas, I fully trusted his process of navigating through a tumultuous part of the world. If you haven't been in the presence of a family of mountain gorillas, it is one of the most moving experiences on earth, and I look forward to returning with Ethan in October.”

"I cannot recommend Ethan enough to anyone going on safari, especially to anyone who has an interest in photography.  Ethan knows what it takes to get a great shot, and spending time with him made me an infinitely better photographer.  His love for nature is contagious.  The time we have spent together on safari have been among the highlights of my life."
